CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) allows you to invest in the farm as an annual share holder, with a dividend of seasonal fruits and vegetables that begins in June and continues until November. This bounty includes spring favorites such as asparagus, strawberries, and spinach, summer delights such as peaches, blueberries, and tomatoes, and autumn glories such as apples, kale, and pumpkins. As a share holder, you help us raise these crops by providing working capital in advance, when we need it, which allows us to focus on growing the best food we can.
We use sustainable growing methods such as plasticulture, companion cropping, drip irrigation, Integrated Pest Management, vermiculture, and composting. Our growing practices are designed to protect and enrich the land we have been blessed with farming. Though we are not a certified organic farm, we use no chemicals in our CSA garden -- we eat this food ourselves every day, and we feed it to our families!
We want to help people connect with their farmers and with the fundamental goodness of pure food, which offers integrity and vitality unrivaled by processed alternatives. Kids love finding out that potatoes grow under ground, and they're more likely to eat beans or peas they pick themselves. We encourage members to visit the farm weekly to pick bonuses of fruits and vegetables at no extra charge.
We pick, pack, and deliver produce for 20 weeks, from the first week of June through the third week of October. Our Produce List will give you an idea of what we plan to deliver. Each share (1 box) is designed to provide much of the produce a family of four might consume in a week. Larger families sometimes buy two shares.
Extra benefits of membership include:
A weekly u-pick bonus.
Unlimited admission to the farm for immediate family members from March 28 through November 25, 2015, including admission to our Events & Festivals and access to attractions such as our 2200 square foot jumping pillow, 18 hole Cow Pie Putt-Putt golf course, 100-foot slides, mazes, pedal carts, swings, stocked fishing ponds, animal barnyard, wagon rides to our you-pick fields.
Two single-use admission passes.
10% Discount on all additional you-pick and in-store produce.
10% Discount on wine purchases at Bluemont Vineyard after visiting the farm during their hours of operation.
