Crops By Season

Strawberries ~ NONE in 2020~ Wiped out in the Mother’s Day Weekend Freeze
We grow Chandler berries, which come in a bit later than some varieties, but produce heavily from mid to late May through early June. Weekday mornings offer the best picking opportunities, as fields are often picked-out by the afternoon, so plan to come early. Sign up for our Pick Your Own Alerts to keep tabs on changing field conditions.

Cherries ~ Finished for the 2020 season
We grow both sweet and tart cherries. Sweet Cherries come in season first in early June followed closely by the tart cherries around Father’s Day. Cherry skins split easily, so the best picking technique is to pluck the fruit with the entire stem attached. Cherries are rich in vitamins A and C, and in beta-carotene. Our tart cherries are mainly used for juice, preserves, sauces, and pie filling.

Black Raspberries~ NONE in 2020~ Wiped out in the Mother’s Day Weekend Freeze
Ripe in late June, these rare treats have a short season, and they go very quickly. There are small thorns on raspberry canes to protect the fruit.  The best picking technique is to pluck just the ripe dark black raspberries from the tips of the canes.  These fragile berries are sold by the 1/4 pint.

Summer Pick Your Own

Peaches~ July & August
We have extended our peach-picking season from the middle of July through the end of August by growing several varieties that ripen at different times. Favorite types include Sugar May, an early peach with bright red skin and ivory-colored flesh, and Sugar King, a yellow peach that ripens later in the season.

blackberry pickingBlackberries~ Mid- Late July
Our most popular summer berry is actually a drupelet, or a cluster of small fruits. They grow on thorn-less canes, which are woven through trellises for easy picking. Recent studies suggest that blackberries have extraordinarily high antioxidant properties. Peak season is the last week of July and the first week of August.

Potatoes ~ August
Don’t miss The Big Dig Potato Harvest.  This is the once a year chance to dig potatoes and taste the smoothness and rich flavor of a fresh potato compared to typical store bought options that have been in storage for months. We grow Kenebec White, Pontiac Reds, Yukon Golds and a few Fingerlings.
