Christmas Tree Recycling at Great Country Farms

December 26, 2025 – January 19, 2026 | Friday-Monday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Introducing Our First-Ever Christmas Tree Recycling Days at Great Country Farms! Start 2026 with sustainability in mind and give your holiday tree a second life on the farm.

Bring your real Christmas tree back to Great Country Farms and help us transform it into something that benefits the land and animals we care for every day. Recycled trees support a variety of eco-friendly farm practices—from feeding our goats (they love a good pine snack!) to enriching the soil for next season’s crops.

How Your Tree Makes a Difference

Livestock Feed: Goats enjoy nibbling on pine needles, which can even act as a natural dewormer.

Mulch & Soil Health: Chipped trees become nutrient-rich mulch that helps retain moisture, support healthy plant growth, and improve our fields and pathways.

Soil Conservation: Tree chips create natural erosion barriers along hillsides and shorelines, protecting the land after winter storms.

Compost: Whole trees or large branches can be added to our compost piles, breaking down over time to return nutrients and organic matter to the soil.

How to Prepare Your Tree for Recycling

Before you bring your tree to the farm, please make sure:

  • Your tree is chemical-free: please do not bring trees treated with fire retardant or other sprays.
  • All decorations are removed: ornaments, lights, garland, hooks, and tinsel.

Christmas Tree Drop-Off

  • Dates: December 26 – January 19. Friday-Monday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Location: Enjoy easy drop off in the parking lot in front of the Farm Market & Bakery
  • How it works: Check in with our Farm Market staff, who will direct you to the drop-off location. Drop your tree and that’s it! Our team will safely portion the trees to feed the goats and integrate the rest into our compost.

Visit the Goats Up Close!

Want a hands-on experience with our goats? Purchase a 30-minute Goat Cuddling Session for the whole family!

  • Special Bonus: If you recycled your Christmas tree with us, you’ll receive a free cup of farm-approved goat feed with your purchase of a Goat Cuddling Experience.
  • A Note About Feeding: Recycled evergreens are a fun enrichment and natural dewormer, but goats should only enjoy them in moderation. Please do not feed Christmas trees directly—our Animal Care team will portion them safely.
  • Reserve your Goat Cuddling Experience below! Simply choose a date, scroll to ‘Optional Farm Experiences,’ and select Goat Cuddling to add it to your visit.
